What can they look forward to when they join your class?
When students come into my class they should look forward to a fun and interactive learning experience. I allow my students the opportunity to learn in hands-on and collaborative lessons that encourage their own individualized learning. The students within my classroom can look forward to gaining a second family environment. I hope to promote a warm environment where students will feel comfortable and safe to explore who they are and learn.
What is unique or interesting about your class?
Something unique about this classroom is that we are getting a class pet fish!
How is your class different from what they experienced last year?
Students will be able to earn ClassDojo points for good behavior, participation, and being persistently on task. Once points are earned, students can exchange them for a prize from the prize box. Moving up to third grade fosters new responsibilities and allows students to be in charge of their own learning. Having a partially virtual school experience last year, the students look forward to being in school and engaged with their teacher and peers. Like their siblings and other students before them, third grade students have the opportunity to participate in the “Flat Stanley” project where they will make a flat person and take them around. The students will journal about all of the adventures they went on and describe the experiences they had with their flat person. Third grade students will also engage in pen pal writing, where they will send letters to students from another third grade class. These are new events and circumstances that the students look forward to within my classroom.
Message to Parents
Dear Parents,
I am so excited to have your child in my third grade class this year! Our Lady of Guadalupe sets out to create a welcoming experience for both students and their families. Within this Catholic school, your child will be challenged to channel their strengths and to embrace who God created them to be. Not only within my classroom, but within the whole school community, your child will be cherished as a beloved child of God.
I’m ecstatic to discover the homes where my students have grown and become who they are. Meeting with each of you will allow me to have a better understanding of the home environment that my students come from and will allow me to create a more individualized learning plan for each student. Throughout the year, I hope to meet with you to discuss your child and their experience within my classroom. I look forward to including you into your child’s learning experience. I am accessible by ClassDojo or through my email if you ever need to contact me.
My email is: spirro@olgschools.org
I am looking forward to a year filled with endless learning and joy!
Best, Ms. Pirro
