A Bit About Me
Hello! I am Sal Giorlando and I am the 5th-8th Grade Religion Teacher at OLG West Campus! I grew up originally in the town of Island Park on the Southern end of Long Island! I attended High School at Kellenberg Memorial High School, Undergrad at The Catholic University of America and Graduate School at the University of Notre Dame, Echo Program Studying Theology! This will be my first time teaching but it is my third year working in Education! I have previously served as a Campus Minister for the last two years at a Catholic High School. A few more fun things about me my favorite Saint is St Philip Neri. My favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 12:4-8 which is, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” And my favorite books are The Lord of the Rings series!
What can your students look forward to this year?
My student can look forward to leaning in a service learning environment the truths of the Catholic Church! My class focuses on helping out students grow personally and spiritually in their relationship with God and others!
What is unique or interesting about your class?
We take a fun approach to studying the Bible in that we have live action and retellings of Bible stories which is when we recreate Bible stories with props in my classroom. This is a fun way to bring the faith to life in a physical and active way!
What is something different or cool from what they may have learned/experienced last year?
This year with the creation of the STORM program there will be many new opportunity’s for our students to get involved in our school and local communities in different service opportunities!
