2nd Grade

The primary focus of second grade is to build on the fundamental skills acquired in first grade.
Reading is conducted using a leveled group model. Reading intervention is available to those students struggling with reading comprehension and phonics. Beginning paragraph writing is taught where students are encouraged to think beyond the basic model and to be more creative in their language use. Grammar skills are emphasized through both sentence structure and creative writing. Students study math concepts, moving into regrouping for addition and subtraction. Students also take participate in Art, Gym, Spanish, and Music.
